The Brookside Bees Story
In 2019, Ian Cook planned to remove a dead tree at his property in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. The tree posed a risk to the surrounding property, but inside its trunk he discovered an established honey-bee colony.
The quickest solution would have been to remove the tree and destroy the colony with it. Ian chose another route.
Drawing on more than 30 years of construction experience, he carefully removed the bees and rehomed them. The colony survived, grew stronger and ultimately became a productive honey colony.
That rescue revealed a wider need. Honey bees were settling in roofs, chimneys, walls, trees and commercial buildings across the Midlands, often leaving owners with few alternatives to conventional pest control.
Midlands Bee Removal grew from the belief that there should be another option: one that protects the property without unnecessarily destroying a viable colony.
Brookside Bees became the place where rescued colonies could be rehomed, supported and restored.
